Percy S. Mistry is Chairman of Oxford International and CEO of Synergy Power Corporation. He spent the early part of his career at the World Bank (1971-76) specialising in establishing development finance companies and capital market institutions in Asia. After a short spell at IFC (1977-78 as Special Adviser to its Executive Vice-President) he left to become Managing Director of a corporate finance advisory group in Hong Kong and the Philippines (1978-81). He returned as a senior executive in the Finance Complex at the World Bank (1981-87), then became a Senior Fellow for International Finance at Oxford University (1987-92), and Chairman of D. C. Gardner & Co. (1992-93). He is a non-executive Director of several companies and non-profit organisations in Europe, Asia and Africa and has been on the Board of several Indian corporations, including ICICI. He was a Member of the SEBI Committee on the introduction of derivatives in India. Mr. Mistry is an adviser to a number of emerging market investment and private equity funds operating out of the US and UK. He is also an adviser to several governments in Africa and Asia, to the Commonwealth Secretariat and to a number of multilateral development banks, UN agencies — such as UNDP, UNCTAD and UN-ECA — and bilateral aid agencies on matters of structural adjustment, financial sector and capital market development, privatisation, and external debt management. He has written and published extensively on these subjects.
