The late Alan R. Ackerman was global market strategist at Fahnestock & Co. Inc., and spent four decades in the investment banking business. He began his career at Merrill Lynch as an account executive and subse-quently served as director of foreign research and investment for several other Wall Street firms. In addition to his Wall Street activities, Ackerman served as a consultant to publicly owned companies, founded and was a major stockholder in several public companies, and handled investments in Europe and Asia for major banks and inter-national corporations.
In the 1970s, Ackerman served as Deputy Director of President Ford’s Citizen Action Committee at the White House. Considered an expert in foreign affairs and international strategies, he was regularly quoted by
Dow Jones, Reuters, the Wall Street Journal, Investor’s Business Daily, and the
New York Times. He also appeared weekly on radio and television and was a contributing editor to several financial publications.
